Jackson Browne a hit for two generations
If you have a chance to see the show, my son left a fan after a solid opening by Steve Earle. Cowboy Mouth hit the stage and delivered, with two outstanding background vocalists and a superb lead guitarist named Mark Goldenberg. Probably my only disappointment was that he did not do "The Loadout/Stay" medley on which I personally think his background vocalists would have excelled. It took little imagination to transport myself back 30 years to the last time I saw him perform without the benefit of binoculars. Having taken the journey from Canandaigua, NY to Central NJ, I was hoping that my 26 year old son would at least catch a glimpse of some of the magic that came out of Laurel Canyon in the late 1960s. As strong vocally as ever, he and a fine supporting cast delivered a two hour plus mix of old and new, remaining surprisingly apolitical (in my opinion the strength was always the lyrics anyway). And he did! Too much crowd noise as the stragglers shuffled in.
